‘Kaapa’ Movie Review: Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act ie Kappa is a quirky Malayalam film. The film has as much to do with this act as a ball boy has to do with a cricket match. The Malayalam film market was very hot due to the discussion of Kapa. Prithviraj was the hero of the film. The director of films like Kerala Cafe and Kaduva was directed by Shaji Kailas and based on the story and screenplay written by GR Indugopan, senior sub-editor of Malayala Manorama. Crime was its basis. If Prithviraj is there then the action will also be good. Now when the movie released on Netflix and the audience saw it, they got the same feeling in which the match was canceled due to bad pitch.

The story of Kapa is nothing special. Madhu Kotta (Prithviraj) is a big goon of the city. His wife Pramila (Aparna Balamurali), is an assistant to the collector. Meanwhile, Anand (Asif Ali) and his wife Beenu (Anna Ben) newly come to Bangalore, where Anand learns through the police that his wife’s brother was killed in a gang war because he challenged Madhu. Beenu’s neighbor Lateef (Dilish Pothan) runs a newspaper and often publishes news against Madhu as his son also stays in Dubai fearing Madhu.

Events unfold in such a way that Anand continues to help Madhu to get his wife’s name removed from the Kappa list, but in the end, Madhu is blown up through a bomb by the same kid, using which Madhu is the city’s biggest killer. Had become a goon. After Madhu’s death, Binu calls Pramila and tells her that whatever happened till now was a small matter, now Binu will rule the city. While Pramila hangs the call threatening to reply to him. The sequel will definitely come for the purpose of clearing the audience.

Prithviraj has been asked to pull the film by putting a cross on his shoulders. They are also successful to a great extent, but was the film made for Prithviraj. Prithviraj’s character is completely negative, but if the audience would have rejected if shown like this in the film, some humanity has also been added to it. In the film, there is no feeling for Prithviraj, neither hatred nor love, nor any kind of intimacy. More than his character, Asif Ali’s character’s confusion and sympathy for his wife awakens.

The chemistry between the characters of Asif and Aparna Balamurali is awkward. How a big don’s wife agrees to help an unknown person in a single meeting and in the end is seen plotting to eliminate the same person’s wife. The author did not consider it necessary to think and the audience had to pay for it. Don’t know why the character of Dilish Pothan has been made so half incomplete. He is a journalist, the owner of such a newspaper which no one reads and he keeps trying to kill Madhu, which is unsuccessful. Why such treatment was given to the character from whom it was expected.

The work of cinematographer Jomon, who has been working with Rohit Shetty for some time now, is very good. His camera work in slow motion shots looks good and makes a good impact. Darkness has not been kept unnecessarily and complete justice has been done with each and every scene, especially in the action sequences. Apart from this, editing is also fine. Shaji and Prithviraj’s previous film was Kaduva i.e. Tiger, which was a complete masala entertainer film made in Malayalam language. Both have missed in Kappa. There is entertainment in the film but not even half as compared to Kaduva.
