Nag Ashwin’s film was earlier scheduled to release in May, but Lok Sabha Elections Due to this, the release date of the film was postponed. Now some people have raised questions on releasing the film on Thursday, June 27 instead of Friday. However, the reason for releasing the film on Thursday can also be numerology. The date 2898 is important for the setting of the film because this is the year (according to the Gregorian calendar) in which the film is set, and that date is based on Aryabhatta’s calculations and Indian texts. June 2024 has a connection with Mahabharata
According to a DNA report, even though the filmmakers have not commented on the logic behind the June 27 release date, many astrologers say that the reason for this could be related to the Vikram Samvat or Hindu calendar. According to the Vikram and Shaka calendars, the month of Ashadha will begin in the last week of June 2024. The month of Ashadha began on June 23 this year and will end on July 21. Interestingly, this year the Krishna Paksha (half) of the month has only 13 days instead of the usual 15, a rare occurrence due to the movement of stars, according to astrologers, the last time this happened was 5000 years ago, just before the Kurukshetra war in the Mahabharata era. Kalki 2898 AD is releasing on the sixth day of this brief Krishna Paksha of Ashadha.
Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwathama
While the film’s director Nag Ashwin had said that Kalki 2898 AD is intended to be a sequel to the events of the Mahabharata, it also adds another link between the film and the epic. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Ashwatthama, one of the seven Chiranjivis (immortal beings) mentioned in the Mahabharata, and there are rumours that more Chiranjivis may appear in the film.
