On Wednesday, during heavy rains in Kanpur’s Kachhari Road, Civil Lines, pedestrians were stunned to see the chamber of a deep sewer line rising repeatedly. The vehicular traffic stopped. They kept looking at it speechlessly. Later, even after the situation became normal, people avoided passing over that chamber and passed from here and there. On the other hand, Jal Nigam believes that this must have happened due to the pressure of the gas filled in the deep sewer line.
In the evening, during heavy rain, vehicles were moving at low speed on Kachhari Road from MG Square in Civil Lines, when suddenly the lid of the chamber of the deep sewer line located in the middle of the road near the Police Commissioner’s office suddenly lifted from one side and then came back to its original position. After this, this happened again and again for about 10 seconds. Seeing this, the drivers stopped their vehicles. Everyone kept watching this unexpected incident speechlessly. A driver also made a six-second video, which also went viral. In this, this lid was lifted 12 times. Seeing this, the girl riding a scooter backed her vehicle. The water of Sisamau drain is pumped from the Intermediate Sewage Pumping Station built at Bhairoghat Square and sent to the sewage pumping station located at Jajmau through deep sewer lines.
On the other hand, Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam, Gyanendra Chaudhary said that earlier, the lids of the chambers had lifted due to water pressure in the deep sewer line near Green Park crossing and Amba Nursing Home in Civil Lines. He believes that there must be gas in this line near the Police Commissioner’s office, this must have happened due to sudden increase in water pressure and also due to increased gas pressure.
