The enthusiasm of the devotees to go to Mahakumbh did not diminish in the severe cold. More than 72 thousand devotees traveled by train from Monday to Tuesday evening. Seeing the increasing crowd, the management had to run more than 26 MEMUs from Central Station and Govindpuri. Even this did not work, so at 1.15 am, Kumbh Mela Special (MEMU) was called from Karbigwan and three thousand passengers were sent to Prayagraj. GRP, RPF and railway personnel remained deployed till 6 in the morning despite the end of duty.

CTM Ashutosh Singh said that passengers had started gathering at the station from Monday evening to reach Prayagraj on the royal bath of Makar Sankranti. Passengers left for Prayagraj in more than 50 trains including 32 specials running from Govindpuri and Central. At around 12:30 in the night, suddenly a crowd of passengers gathered on platform number 4. 200 employees of GRP, RPF and Railway Department reached the station and through loudspeakers the passengers were asked to remain in their places. 00114 Kumbh Mela Special (MEMU) was called from Karbigwan. It took about half an hour to arrive. Around 3000 passengers were sent to Prayagraj by MEMU at 1.15 am.
