A new case of cyber fraud has come to light in the city. A young man was first implicated in video fraud in Chakeri police station area. Then he made a digital arrest by impersonating a Delhi Crime Branch officer and extorted Rs 2.22 lakh. Chakeri police has registered the report of the case.

Jitendra Mehrotra, resident of Jagaipurwa Lal Bungalow, received a video call on WhatsApp from an unknown mobile number four to five days ago. Jitendra disconnected the number when it was not confirmed. On December 21, when he was in the bathroom, a video call came. This time Jitendra picked up the phone. During this time the people in front made a video of him. According to Jitendra, the vicious person made the video and then edited it and started blackmailing him by sending it. According to Jitendra, he is a heart patient.

The vicious person who was talking to the front by sending edited photos and videos introduced himself as an officer of Delhi Crime Branch and started threatening. After this, on December 23, Rs 1.22 lakh from Jitendra was deposited in the mentioned accounts of Utkarsh Small Finance Bank. After this the miscreants deposited another lakh rupees. Then they made digital arrest and started demanding Rs 2.25 lakh. When he told the family about this incident, they came to know about cyber fraud. After that he went to Chakeri police and lodged a complaint. Chakeri police station in-charge Ashok Kumar Dubey said that the matter is being investigated after registering a report.
