Kalyanpur police has arrested a fake inspector who duped a furniture businessman of Rs 15 lakh wearing a uniform. He was duping people for a long time by pretending to be a policeman. Apart from a car and uniform bearing the police logo, the police have also recovered an ID card of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Administrative Academy (LABSA) which trains IAS officers.
Chandrashekhar Singh, a resident of Kalyanpur CTS Basti, became blind after retiring from the Ordnance Factory. After this, he started the furniture business. Chandrashekhar Singh said that some time ago his son-in-law Sagar had introduced him to Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who claimed to be a sub-inspector posted in the ACP office. The son-in-law had told that he lives in Guba Garden with his wife Neha and child. The land has to be registered in the name of his wife, but right now there is no money.
He requested him to give Rs 15 lakh to Sanjeev. Trusting his son-in-law, Chandreshwar gave Rs 10 lakh through RTGS and Rs 5 lakh in cash in September 2023. In return, Sanjeev gave a blank cheque. When the cheque was deposited in the account, it returned. After several times, when the cheque bounced on August 7, the fraud came to light. He lodged an FIR in Kalyanpur police station against three people including the fake inspector and son-in-law. When Indranagar outpost in-charge Arun Kumar Singh, who was investigating the case, called the accused to the outpost, he told that he was first posted in GRP Lucknow, then GRP Unnao and then Kakori police station. When he inquired at the place mentioned by him, everything turned out to be fake. On suspicion, the outpost in-charge arrested him with the help of surveillance.
