Irfan became MLA, Naseem became MLA for the first time
Irfan Solanki, a three-time MLA from Sisamau assembly constituency, is the first MLA whose membership of the assembly was cancelled. This happened because Irfan was punished by the court for his involvement in criminal activities. After losing membership, Naseem Solanki (Irfan’s wife) contested as a woman from the Solanki family for the first time in the by-election held in Sisamau and became an MLA, failing all the equations. In this way, the Solanki family continues to dominate the Sisamau assembly constituency. Irfan’s father Haji Mustaq Solanki was the first to become an MLA.

Ramesh suddenly emerged in BJP, became MP for the first time
Ramesh Awasthi, who completed a long tenure as a senior journalist and made a name for himself by organizing public parties, was also in the news this year. Although his activism in BJP started from 2014, when he claimed ticket for Lok Sabha from Banda, but as a Metropolitan MP, he is the first BJP leader who had not contested any election before. Due to his activism, Ramesh Awasthi has also been given the responsibility of member in two committees of the Central Government, Commerce and Industry and Petroleum Committee. Despite SP having three of the five assembly seats falling in the Metropolitan Lok Sabha constituency, he managed to win from BJP.

Ajay Kapoor, three-time MLA from Congress, donned the saffron flag.
After a long time of speculation, Ajay Kapoor, known as a big leader of Congress, joined BJP this year. His political career in Congress lasted for about 35 years. Starting from being a councilor, he was elected MLA on Congress ticket three times in a row. Ajay Kapoor, as a Congress leader, has often been giving competition to former Union Minister and veteran Congressman Shriprakash Jaiswal. He has also been a district, state and national official in the Congress organization. He was also made in-charge of the party in many states at different times. At the time when he joined BJP, he was also holding the responsibility of in-charge of Bihar. For about six years, he played the role of taking Congress forward in Bihar.

City Congress gets new leader
Congress, which was left leaderless in the metropolis due to two-time Union Minister and three-time MP Shriprakash Jaiswal retiring from active politics due to increasing age and Ajay Kapoor joining BJP, got a new leader in the form of Alok Mishra. This year, for the first time, Alok, who was nominated by the party on Lok Sabha ticket, left the other Congressmen behind by getting more than four lakh 22 thousand votes. He has also held many positions at the organizational level, from the national unit to the state unit. His wife has also contested the mayor’s election. His activism in Congress is said to be from 1984. For all these reasons he has been in the news throughout the year.

Two famous teachers of Kakadev accused of rape
Kakadev coaching market was also surrounded by controversies this year. Sahil Siddiqui, a biology teacher in a renowned coaching institute, and Vikas Porwal, a chemistry teacher, blackmailed a girl student preparing for NEET and raped her for seven months. At first the student tolerated everything and then went home. After about a year, the victim student lodged a report against both the teachers at Kalyanpur police station. The police arrested the accused teachers and sent them to jail. Accused Sahil Siddiqui had earlier also been accused of doing obscene acts with a coaching student and Kakadev police had sent him to jail. Then the coaching students created ruckus by blocking the road regarding the arrest of the teacher.
