UP Police Kanwar Yatra Rules: There is a political uproar over the police order issued in Uttar Pradesh regarding the Kanwar Yatra. In which the police ordered all the dhabas, restaurants and street vendors to hang name plates. Opposition leaders were already on the offensive regarding this, now Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have also started taking jibes. Former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has expressed anger on social media.
He wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), “The hasty and confusing orders of some overzealous officials can promote the disease of untouchability. Faith must be respected, but untouchability should not be protected. “Don’t ask about birth, what is caste and what is the lineage. Raidas, all are sons of the Lord, no one is of low caste.”

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said, “The Muzaffarnagar police has finally patted its back by making the administrative order of hotel, fruit and cart vendors to display their names voluntary, succumbing to public brotherhood and pressure from the opposition. The peace-loving public is not going to accept this. Such orders should be completely rejected. The honourable court should intervene positively and ensure through the government that the administration will not do any such divisive work in future. This is the victory of unity born out of love and harmony.”
BSP supremo Mayawati said, “The new government order for all the hotels, dhabas, cart shopkeepers etc. on the Kanwar Yatra route in western UP and Muzaffarnagar district to prominently display the full name of the owner is a wrong tradition which can spoil the harmonious atmosphere. The government should immediately withdraw it in public interest.”
What is the matter?
Actually, the route of Kanwar Yatra in Muzaffarnagar of UP is about 250 kms. All the shopkeepers, dhabas, restaurants as well as street vendors on this route have been ordered to hang their name boards. Along with Muzaffarnagar, the order has been issued in cities like Saharanpur and Shamli as well. After this order of Uttar Pradesh Police, the controversy has increased and the opposition parties are attacking the ruling party.
