According to the PTI report, Kapil Sharma also alleged that Chhabria did not deliver the vehicle and tried to extort money from him through illegal means. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recorded the statement of Sharma’s authorized representative Mohammad Hamid as part of the charge sheet filed against Chhabria in the money laundering case. A special PMLA court hearing the case on Wednesday took cognizance of the charge sheet and issued summons to Chhabria and six other accused in the case and asked them to appear on February 26.
what is the matter
The ED case is based on three FIRs lodged against the accused, including a fraud case filed by Sharma. In his statement before the ED, the actor’s representative said that Sharma, owner of K9 Productions, had bought a vanity van in December 2016. Had contacted Chhabria for purchase. Subsequently, in March 2017, an agreement was signed between K9 Productions and Dilip Chhabria Design Private Limited (DCDPL) for the delivery of a vanity van for Rs 4.5 crore (excluding taxes).
The statement said that as per the settlement terms, Rs 5.31 crore (including taxes) was paid by Sharma’s production house. Hamid said that DCDPL neither gave the vanity van to Sharma nor returned any money. The statement claimed that a demand for more money was made by blaming Sharma for the delay in delivery of the vehicle.
