Karnataka Covid: The government has come on alert mode amid increasing cases of sub-variant JN.1 of Covid-19 in Karnataka. The sub-committee formed by the state government regarding coronavirus issued preventive instructions on Tuesday (December 27). Precautionary measures include following Covid rules, such as wearing masks in public places, following social distancing, isolation of the infected person for 7 days.
In fact, on Tuesday, the government sub-committee advised the elderly and people already suffering from any disease to get vaccinated as a ‘precautionary vaccine’ precaution. To complete this work, Karnataka has decided to purchase 30 thousand doses of Corbivax vaccine from the Central Government. However, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has said that the government is not imposing any restrictions on New Year celebrations. Guidelines will be issued in this regard.
Everyone is advised to wear mask
Health Minister Gundu Rao said, ‘Under these guidelines, everyone is advised to wear a mask. This is especially important for those people whose age is more than 60 years and who are already suffering from some disease. Children who have symptoms like cold, fever. They should not be sent to school and should be monitored at home. The Health Minister further said that if needed, children can also be tested.
Guidelines will be made for discharge of Covid patients
Karnataka Health Minister also emphasized that if a person has been infected with Covid. He does not need to be admitted to the hospital, so he should remain in isolation at home for a week. The minister said, ‘People who are in home isolation and working in government or non-government sector. They should be given compulsorily casual leave for one week. People who have had to be hospitalized should be given special leave during this period. Guidelines will be issued in this regard.
So far, 34 cases of JN.1 variant have been reported in Karnataka, which includes the deaths of three people. 69 cases of JN.1 variant have been reported across the country, of which the largest share has been reported in Karnataka. Despite these figures, the minister says that people do not need to panic right now.
