Red chilli of Karnataka is very famous all over the world because of its spiciness which enhances the taste of food. But at present this chilli has made the atmosphere spicy in Karnataka. Farmers have created a ruckus regarding chilli. Even vehicles were set on fire by the farmers. Apart from this, farmers also vandalized Byadgi chilli market.

Farmers allege that chilli is not getting the right price in the market. Also, the price has fallen by Rs 10 to 15 thousand per quintal in a week. Due to which farmers are suffering huge losses. According to reports, 3.1 lakh bags of chilli reached the market at one time. But these days it is common to have so much chilli here. But yesterday the price suddenly fell. According to reports, the quality of some chillies that came that day was poor due to which the rates also fell.

Last year, the price of chilli had gone up to Rs 50 thousand per quintal, due to which there was bumper cultivation this time. After bumper cultivation, there was a bumper arrival of chilli in the market, due to which the prices fell. According to reports, farmers also entered the APMC office and vandalized it. During this period many computer systems were also broken. The farmers who created ruckus also raised slogans against the police and administration during the protest.

  • In December last year, the price of Dabbi variety chilli was Rs 44,000 per quintal, which fell to Rs 35,000 on March 5.
  • The price of Kaddi variety fell from Rs 43,000 to Rs 31,500.
  • The price of Guntur chilli fell from more than Rs 16,000 to Rs 12,000.
