Maharashtra-Karnataka Border Dispute: The issue of Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute seems to be gaining momentum. A massive protest was planned in Karnataka’s Belagavi today amid the winter session. Despite the imposition of Section 144, members of the Maharashtra Integration Committee and the NCP staged a protest near the Kognoli toll plaza near the Karnataka-Maharashtra border over the inter-state border issue. A crowd of hundreds had reached here to protest. Police say that officials are on alert regarding the Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue.
Along with this, more than 300 members of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP were stopped at the border and sent back from the Karnataka side. At the same time, the activists of the Madhyamik Maharashtra Integration Committee (MMES), which has been raising this issue for the last five decades, had also planned a protest before the winter session of 2015.
