Karthik had revealed in an interview that he would skip his classes and travel two hours to attend auditions. Karthik began his modelling career while he was in university and after three years of unsuccessfully auditioning for films, he took an acting course from the Creating Characters Institute.
When Kartik was in the third year, he got a casting call on Facebook and after giving auditions for 6 months, he finally made his Bollywood debut with Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama. His monologue in the film became a huge hit. During that time, he lived in an apartment with 12 struggling actors and earned money by cooking food for them.
Karthik had revealed in an interview that he used to do ads and he earned Rs 1500 for his first advertisement.
In 2015, Kartik Aaryan did Luv Ranjan’s comedy sequel Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. In this film, he gave a seven-minute single-shot monologue. And this film also proved to be a hit and he got star status. After this, he gave another blockbuster ‘Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety’ with Sunny Singh.
After this, Kartik never looked back. Then Kartik gave some of the biggest hits like Luka Chuppi, Pati Patni Aur Woh (both 2019), comedy horror film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Satyaprem Ki Katha.
Recalling his early struggling days, Kartik Aaryan told Raj Shamani in an interview, “I have always had a big ‘fight’ over money. Growing up in Gwalior, we were in debt, as my parents had loans. It was not that we were poor, but we were not rich, in such a situation, we had more debt than income. “
Talking further about asking for money from friends, he said, “When I came to Mumbai, I had taken an education loan. It has been a life of loans, a life of borrowing among friends. For a long time, I became used to borrowing money from friends and telling them that I will return it in a few days. When I came to Mumbai, I knew that I had to earn. I was tired of borrowing money, travelling by train…”
Kartik, who once used to take loans and borrow money from friends, has completely changed his life today. The actor has become one of the highest paid actors in the industry.
According to reports, Kartik Aaryan charges Rs 40 crore per film today. However, for his latest release Chandu Champion, in which he plays the role of Murlikant Petkar, he has reportedly reduced his fees and charged Rs 25 crore for the film.
