Kerala Police Operation Aag Police Nab Over 2500 Gangsters Including 300 Fugitives In Single Day Raid


Kerala Anti Social Elements: Kerala Police took massive action against anti-social elements on Sunday (February 5). Under this action, the police have arrested more than 2,500 people from across the state. According to news agency ANI, the police said in a statement that 2,507 people have been arrested across the state as part of the initiative to curb anti-social activities.

“After raids at 3,501 locations, arrests were made and a total of 1,673 cases were registered since February 4,” the state police chief’s office said. “The maximum number of 333 people were arrested in Thiruvananthapuram, but the maximum number of 257 cases were registered in Kannur district,” he added.

Highest number of cases registered in Kannur

This action was taken after the increase in anti-social activities in the state. According to the information, 301 arrests were registered in Thrissur, followed by Kozhikode and Kannur with 272 and 271 cases respectively. Kannur is followed by Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur with 239 and 214 cases respectively.

Lawyer accused of fraud

On the other hand, the police have accused lawyer Saiby Jose Kidangur of cheating and corruption in the cash-for-judgment case. A case has been registered against the lawyer in this matter and a special team has been formed to investigate the allegations. The lawyer is alleged to have demanded money from clients on the pretext of bribing high court judges to obtain favorable judgements.

File a case against the lawyer

The police have registered a case against the accused lawyer under section 7(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. A senior police officer said, “The Special Investigation Team will record the statements of the lawyer and those making allegations against him.” Before this, it is alleged that the lawyer has collected huge amount from the clients by taking the name of Justice PV Kunhikrishnan, Justice A Mohammad Mustaq and Justice Ziyad Rahman AA of the High Court. The vigilance wing of the High Court has found several examples of this.
