The efforts to develop Khanta, situated on the banks of Rihand reservoir, as a tourist destination have intensified. The state government has approved the development of tourism facilities here. Various works will be done in Khanta with an expenditure of about Rs 3.65 crore. A time limit of 27 months has also been set for this.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with NTPC Rihand a few months ago to develop Khanta of Myorpur block as a tourist destination. After this, a detailed action plan was prepared under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on which action has now been started.
The responsibility of development of the mine, construction of various facilities including the main building has been entrusted to Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation. UP Project Corporation Limited has invited applications through short term tender. To complete the construction and development works through this process, the implementing agency will have to complete all the works in 27 months at a cost of Rs 3.65 crore.
It will develop the necessary facilities for the development of the marked area as a tourist attraction centre. During this period, a total of 283 types of works including building construction will be completed.
