Khatu Shyam is related to Mahabharata period

Khatu Shyam is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Shri Krishna, who is related to the Mahabharata period. According to mythological and religious stories, Khatu Shyam’s name was Barbarik, who was the grandson of Pandava son Bhima. They are known by names like Haare Ka Sahara, Shishadani, Morvi Nandan, Khatu Shyam and Teen Baandhari. Devotees also chant these names of God.

How to call Khatu Shyam Three Arrows

Barbarik had a boon that whichever side he fought for, would win. But Barbarik had promised his mother that in the Mahabharata war, he would support only the side which would lose. Barbarik had three such impenetrable arrows which could destroy the entire army and return to the quiver.

Barbarik got these three impenetrable arrows from Lord Shiva. That is why Khatu Shyam ji is also called three armed with arrows. These arrows had so much power that, if Barbarik had used them during the Mahabharata war, the entire war could have been ended with just these 3 arrows.

Lord Shri Krishna already knew the outcome of the war. He also knew that the Kauravas were the weak side of the war. But Krishna also knew that if Barbarika fought on behalf of the Kauravas, the Kauravas would definitely win. That’s why Shri Krishna asked for his head as a donation from Barbarik.

Barbarik also donated his head to Shri Krishna within a moment. But Barbarik told Shri Krishna that he wanted to see the war of Mahabharata. In such a situation, Krishna kept Barbarik’s head at a high place. Because of donating sheesh, he is also called Sheesh Daani. Seeing the devotion of Barbarik, Shri Krishna was pleased and gave him a boon that he would be worshiped in my name in Kaliyuga.
