Keshav Kumar Pathak (KK Pathak) is a tough officer who has brought about many changes in the education system of Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had entrusted him with the responsibility of Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department. Recently, KK Pathak is in the news for not having summer vacation in the state. He was born on 15 January 1968. He was smart in studies from the beginning. KK Pathak got a bachelor’s degree in economics after passing 10th and 12th. He passed graduation with first class. After this, he also did M.Phil in the same subject. According to reports, he had secured a rank in the top 40 in the UPSC examination.

How was the journey?

In 1990, he got his first posting in Katihar. He became DM in 1996. In 2005, he also became BIADA MD and Housing Board CMD. In 2010, he went to Delhi on central deputation. In 2015, he returned to Bihar and played a major role in the Excise Department. In 2021, he became the Additional Chief Secretary of the Excise and Prohibition Department. Then in the year 2023, he was made the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department.

Why is it in discussion?

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had ordered to keep schools closed till June 8, but KK Pathak had amended this order and put teachers on duty. Reports suggest that CM Nitish Kumar is angry with this. KK Pathak has applied for EL leave.
