Cylinder Colors: Everyone has seen the red colored cylinder used in the kitchen of the house. Everyone knows that LPG gas i.e. Liquefied Petroleum Gas is filled in red colored cylinders. But apart from the kitchen cylinder, there are many other colored cylinders as well. Apart from the red cylinder, there is also a blue, black and white cylinder. Now the question becomes that which gases are filled in different colored cylinders? The question also arises that why these cylinders are divided into so many colours? The reason for the different colors of the cylinders

Actually, apart from LPG, many types of gas are used all over the world. The red colored cylinder, in which LPG gas is filled, is only used for cooking in the kitchen. But along with this there are many gases which play an important role in making our life easier. Long before LPG, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and helium gas filled in balloons are filled in cylinders. It is very easy to fill these gas in the cylinder, but the difficulty arises when the filled cylinders are mixed. Then no person will be able to identify which gas is filled in which cylinder. This is the reason why each type of gas cylinder was given a different colour, so that the gas could be identified by that colour.

Which gas in which color cylinder?

Generally we all know that LPG i.e. Liquefied Petroleum Gas is filled in red colored cylinders which we use for cooking in our kitchen. Now let’s talk about white colored cylinder, then would like to tell you that oxygen gas is filled in white colored cylinder. Cylinders of oxygen gas are usually seen in the hospital.

Nitrogen gas is filled in the black colored cylinder which is used to make ice cream and fill it in tyres. Now let’s talk about the brown colored cylinder, helium gas is filled in it, which is filled in the flying balloons. Nitrous oxide gas is filled in the blue cylinder, which is also known as ‘laughing gas’. Gray colored cylinders contain carbon dioxide which is used commercially.
