Kaudiganj town situated on the banks of Kalindi river of Jalali in Aligarh is the center of religion and faith. This is the land where, Padma Bhushan poet Jainendra Kumar weaved a garland of words through poems, Asian wrestling champion Malav Singh was born from the soil here.

On the other hand, the holy land of Kaudiganj gave birth to a boy in a Jain family in 1960, whose childhood was spent in poverty, adolescence in studies and youth in struggles. At the age of four months, Anandilal lost his father’s shadow, after which he was brought up by his mother and maternal uncle. Early education was done from Jain Gurukul Rishi Brahmacharya Ashram in Hastinapur town of Meerut district where he was named Jainendra Jain from Anandilal. After tenth, he went to Kashi for further education. Jumping into the freedom struggle of the country, participated in Gandhiji’s non-cooperation movement and also went to jail. Within the four walls of the prison, he got the inspiration to convey his thoughts and feelings to the public through free writing.
After this the edge of his pen and the speed of thoughts which he achieved in Hindi literature is still making the town proud. He proved his talent in novels, stories and theatrical literature. In 1929, Hindustani Akademi Allahabad for the novel Parakh, in 1952 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India for the story Prem Mein Bhagwan, in 1953 by the Sahitya Akademi for Natya Sahitya Paap and Prakash, in 1966 for Muktibodh Hastimal Dalmiya Award and in 1970 Uttar Pradesh Time And honored Jainendra Jain for us. In 1971, the Government of India honored Jainendra with the Padma Bhushan for his literary contribution.

At the same time, the past of Kaudiganj town has also been glorious. Greesh Chandra Garg and Akhilesh Mahajan of the town told that a child named Malua was born in a poor Kashyap family here. To meet the financial needs, the family shifted to Delhi. There Malua’s mind used to pick up and throw children instead of studies. When the Hanuman Akhara of Delhi caught sight of him, he taught Malua betting tricks and fed him at the state and national level. Climbing the ladder of success, the Malua-turned-Malwa Singh wrestler made Kaudiaganj proud by winning the gold medal in the 52 kg Greco-Roman wrestling at the Asian Championship held in Jakarta in 1962. There was a time when Kaudiganj town was famous as Malwa Pehalwan.
center of faith and devotion
The ancient temple of Lalita Mata located here is the center of people’s faith, where people of every religion and society worship the mother without any discrimination. Every year after Holi, along with Basoda worship, on every Tuesday, a crowd of people perform the caste of Mata here. This cycle goes on continuously every Tuesday and stops in the month of Ashadh. The people of Kaudiganj, who have gone from nearby towns to other provinces, also bring their children here to have darshan of the mother and wish for their long life and health. Legend has it that for hundreds of years, a demon lived near the Shiva temple built on the banks of the Kalindi river, who used to devour children. He had made the radius of twenty km devoid of children.
There was commotion everywhere, at the same time a girl reached the cave with a trishul, who defied the demon and took him away from the cave towards the west where he was killed. At the place where the demon was killed, a temple was established in the name of that girl (Lalita Mata) where people from far away places including the town also reach for the good wishes of their children. Apart from this, every year, along with Ganesh Chaturthi, the Devchhat fair is organized at the Dauji temple located in the main market of the town, which lasts for a week.
