RG Kar Medical College Rape Murder Case: Kolkata’s R.G. The case of Kar Hospital rape and murder case is expected to be settled in a month. The Supreme Court has said this after seeing the new status report of CBI in the case. It has been told in this report that the case is being heard continuously in the Sealdah court and the statements of 43 out of 81 witnesses have been recorded in the court.
The Supreme Court is hearing suo motu cognizance of the Kolkata trainee doctor rape and murder case that has shocked the entire country. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for CBI before the bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, also said that a separate investigation into corruption in the hospital is being conducted. Permission has been sought from the state government to prosecute two officers in this regard. On this, senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, appearing for the West Bengal government, said that he was not aware of it, but the state government would soon take a decision on the request of the CBI.
Next hearing will be held on March 17
The Supreme Court has said that the next hearing will be on March 17. The court also said that if necessary, it will hear the case in the lower court or any aspect related to the CBI investigation, hence any party can file an application if necessary. During the hearing, the victim’s parents said that the CBI investigation was satisfactory. He expressed hope that apart from the main accused in the incident, CBI will also file a charge sheet on the role of other people.
When will NTF give the final report?
In the hearing held on Tuesday, December 10, the Supreme Court asked the National Task Force formed to give suggestions on the safety of doctors to submit its final report within 12 weeks. The court also asked NTF to study the steps taken by the states on this issue.
