Amar Upadhyay said in a conversation with Hindustan Times, “Before playing the role of Mihir, I was not getting my due in the industry. I felt that if I do not reach heights then there is no point in me being an actor. No one recognized me when I used to walk on the street. I was considering Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as my last project. I thought, ‘If this show doesn’t do anything for me, I will change my profession and do something else, but luck had approved something else.’

Today, when I look back, I can say that whatever Mihir is today, I have worked hard for that. Even after 22 years, people call me by this name. For me it was like a gift from God.
