Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has written a letter to Chief Minister Atishi criticizing the government for deliberately failing to present the CAG report in the Assembly. And advised to call a special session of the House on 19 or 20 December. In his letter written on Tuesday, Saxena alleged that there was a deliberate lapse on the part of the elected government in presenting 14 reports in the last two years.

The LG, in a letter to the Chief Minister, said that normally, the Assembly session is called for at least three sessions in a year, but it is a mockery of the legislative practice that the Delhi government called only five sessions in five years. The LG further said that the third part of the fifth session of the Delhi Assembly was adjourned sine die on December 4, but has not been adjourned yet.
In a letter to the CM, the LG said that being the leader of the House, in consultation with the Speaker, he can call a special meeting of the Assembly on December 19 or 20 to table the CAG report in the House, as there is further delay in the matter. And elections are going to be held for the eighth assembly. The LG said that the tenure of the current assembly and the elected government is going to end in February 2025. The issue is currently under consideration as opposition BJP MLAs have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, seeking direction to the elected government to table the report in the Assembly. Opposition leader Vijender Gupta, who filed the petition on Tuesday, gave an ultimatum to the AAP government, saying the BJP would again approach the High Court if the government failed to call a special session to present the report within 48 hours.
