In the case of rape of a fifth class student four and a half years ago, the court of Special Judge POCSO Act Amit Veer Singh has sentenced the guilty teacher to life imprisonment. While hearing the case on Friday, he was also fined Rs 2 lakh. If the fine is not paid, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months. Out of the fine amount, Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand will be given to the victim.

According to the prosecution, the mother of the victim, a resident of a village in the Babhani police station area, had informed in the complaint given to the Babhani police station that her 12-year-old daughter studies in class 5. She had gone to school on November 6, 2019. All the children went home after the school was over, but her daughter was stopped by the teacher Santosh Kumar Jaiswal. He raped her forcibly at around three o’clock. After this, he dropped the daughter home and left. He had forbidden the daughter to tell anyone. The victim told the whole incident to her mother while crying.

On November 7, the police registered a case and started investigation. During the hearing of the case, after hearing the arguments of the lawyers of both the sides, the statements of the witnesses and examining the documents, the court found the teacher Santosh Kumar Jaiswal guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of two lakh rupees.

If the fine is not paid, an additional six months of imprisonment will have to be served. Out of the fine amount, one lakh sixty thousand rupees will be given to the victim. Government lawyers Dinesh Kumar Agrahari, Satya Prakash Tripathi and Neeraj Kumar Singh argued on behalf of the prosecution.
