The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

BJP’s Kiritsinh Jitubha Rana defeated AAP’s Mayurbhai Merabhai Sakaria by a margin of 23,146 votes in Limbdi assembly seat in Surendranagar district. BJP candidate got 81,765 votes while AAP got 58,619 votes here. The third number was Congress. Its candidate Kalpanaben Bijalbhai Dhoria got 32,929 votes, which was only 17.92 percent of the total votes. The deposits of 12 out of 15 candidates were forfeited. 2,645 voters here pressed the NOTA button.

BJP victorious on all seats in Surendranagar district

Limbdi seat is one of the five seats in Surendranagar district. There are total 5 seats in this district. The BJP has won all the five seats in the district in this assembly election.

Congress got victory in 2017

The Congress had won the Limbdi seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress had nominated Somabhai Koli Patel as its candidate from this seat. He defeated BJP’s Kirti Singh Rana by 14,000 votes. A total of 15 candidates were in the fray here. Out of these, the deposits of 13 candidates were forfeited. A total of 16 elections including two by-elections have been held on Iris seat. Out of these, the Congress has won here eight times and the BJP seven times. The Swatantra Party candidate was successful in winning this seat only once in 1967.
