The campaign for the last and seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 ended on Thursday. In this phase, voting will take place on 13 Lok Sabha seats of UP. With this, the campaign for the 18th Lok Sabha is over.

In the seventh phase, voting will be held on June 1 for Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Robertsganj in UP. Along with this, votes will also be cast for the Duddhi (ST) assembly by-election. Out of these Lok Sabha seats, voting will also be held on eight seats of Purvanchal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is contesting from the Varanasi seat. In 2019, BJP won six out of these eight seats of Purvanchal and BSP won two seats. Counting of votes will be done on June 4.

Before this, political parties put in all their efforts to win the seats of the seventh phase. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda held a series of public meetings. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and SP National President Akhilesh Yadav, BSP supremo Mayawati also made efforts. On Thursday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh sought votes for the BJP in Chandauli. Chandauli is also the home district of the Defense Minister.

Chief Election Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that 144 candidates are in the fray for all these seats in the seventh phase. Among them, there are 134 male and 10 female candidates. After the end of the election campaign period, the presence of outside workers and officials of all political parties has been banned in these constituencies. On the day of voting, carrying mobile phones, smart phones, wireless sets etc. inside the polling booth has been banned.
