The politics of Purvanchal is different from other regions in many ways. If we talk about Lok Sabha elections, the attitude of voters has changed in recent years. He has expressed more confidence in external candidates than in local ones. If we look at the picture of the current Lok Sabha, the MPs from Varanasi as well as Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Bhadohi, Azamgarh and Ghosi are not voters of their areas.

If we talk about Varanasi parliamentary constituency, since 2004 only candidates coming from outside are being elected as MPs. The birthplace of 2004 Congress MP Dr. Rajesh Mishra is Deoria district. The birthplace of 2009 BJP MP Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi is Delhi. The birthplace of BJP MP and country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi from 2014 till now is Vadnagar village in Gujarat.
Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey is a BJP MP from Chandauli Lok Sabha constituency adjacent to Varanasi since 2014. Dr. Pandey is originally a resident of Ghazipur district and his residence is in Varanasi.
