After Ajay Kapoor, who was considered a strong contender of Congress from Kanpur Nagar seat, joined BJP, a situation of confusion has arisen in front of the party. After Ajay Kapoor, whom the party considered a universal face, left the party, Congress is now in a dilemma whether to field a Brahmin candidate or give a chance to a candidate from the Vaishya community. Because the number of voters of both these communities is considerable.

A week ago, the names of three leaders were sent to the party central unit by the State Selection Committee, which included the names of Ajay Kapoor, Alok Mishra and Pawan Gupta. Now only two faces are left. Both are new to the Lok Sabha elections. The candidate from the metropolitan seat in Congress is to be announced within the next one week.

For this, Kanpur seat was also discussed along with other seats in the Central Committee meeting in Delhi on Thursday. It is learned that the final list will be prepared to declare the candidates on March 18. The name of any one may be stamped in it.

In the discussion going on as to why there is only a Brahmin candidate, it has come to light that the maximum number of voters on the Mahanagar seat come from this community. The number of Brahmin voters is said to be around 6.5 lakh. Similarly, if we talk about Vaishya community, the total number of its voters here is around 4.5 lakh.
