Despite all the efforts in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, BSP has not been able to win in Agra yet. From the point of view of caste equations, BSP is definitely strong in Agra Lok Sabha constituency, but the party has been defeated here every time. Maximum number of Congress MPs have been elected on this seat. After Congress, BJP has ruled the most. SP also won elections from here twice.

From 1952 to 1971, Agra seat remained in the control of Congress. Seth Achal Singh was elected MP for five consecutive times. In 1977, Shambhunath Chaturvedi of Janata Party won the election. Congress returned again in 1980 and Nihal Singh became MP. In 1984 also, Nihal Singh of Congress was elected MP. In 1989, Ajay Singh of Janata Dal reached Parliament after winning the elections. This seat was held by BJP from 1991 to 1998.

Bhagwan Shankar Singh was elected MP. In the 1999 elections, SP snatched this seat from BJP and Raj Babbar reached Parliament after winning the election. Rajbabbar also won the 2004 elections. 2009 Then the wind changed and BJP won the election. Ram Shankar Katheria of BJP was elected MP from 2009 to 2014. In 2019 also, this seat was won by Professor SP Singh Baghel from BJP. That means BSP could not win even once.

Even SP’s support did not work

In 2009, Kunwarchand Vakil of BSP contested the Lok Sabha elections. He got 29.98 percent votes. He got 1,93,982 votes. In 2014, BSP nominated Narayan Singh Suman as its candidate but he could get only 26.48 percent votes. Although he got 2,83,453 votes. In the 2019 elections, BSP fielded Manoj Kumar Soni of Hathras from Agra, when he got 38.47 percent votes. He increased the votes of BSP by 12 percent by getting 4,35,329 votes but could not win. Whereas in 2019 there was an alliance of SP and BSP.
