Van drivers who had come for election duty at Agra Police Lines had to face problems on Sunday. The situation became worse in summer. They were not even given cold water. After the evening briefing, the drivers came on the road. Started creating ruckus. Police officers arrived on information. Gave assurance of proper arrangements for food and drink. Everyone became quiet on this.
Calling van drivers for election duty on May 7 had started from May 3 itself. By Sunday, all the vehicles were parked in the police line grounds. The driver also came with him. There was a briefing on Sunday. During this time the van driver was also present. He was angry.
Drivers Ramhari and Sunil told that the drivers have been stuck in the field for 3 days. The policemen had filled four tanks for water. The water in the tank becomes hot in the scorching heat in the afternoon. How could one drink it? There was no arrangement for food. The drivers were eating food with themselves. The policemen were leaving only after making the announcement. There was no solution to his problem.
Even food was not given till evening. The drivers got angry at this. After the briefing the police came to the line route. Jammed. Officers arrived on this. He assured that food will be arranged. Food was given to the drivers at 9 pm.
