Lok Sabha Elections 2024 TMC Mamata Banerjee West Bengal Murshidabad India Alliance Congress Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury CPM | Lok Sabha Elections 2024: INDIA alliance is in Delhi, not in Bengal

Mamata Banerjee On INDIA: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Congress on Friday (April 19, 2024). She said in the election rally in Murshidabad – even a single vote given to Congress will strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

During this time, TMC supremo also made it clear that there is no India alliance in Bengal. According to her, “I am hearing that some people here are saying that we are India alliance and hence vote for us. Let me tell them that India alliance is in Delhi but not here. There is no talk of Congress and CPM India alliance here. Do it.”

This comment of Mamata Banerjee, popularly known as Didi, came when senior Congress leader Adhir Chaudhary had appealed to vote for the India Alliance in several public meetings in support of Congress candidates. He had appealed to the public to vote for the candidates of Left parties along with Congress. The recent comment of West Bengal is being seen as a sarcasm on the same appeal of Adhir Ranjan.

Vote only for TMC, not for CPI(M)-Congress.

During this time, Mamata Banerjee accused Congress and Left parties of colluding with BJP. She said, “Giving even a single vote to Congress against TMC means giving two votes to BJP. Voting for any other party here means making BJP more powerful.”

Mamta Banerjee made special appeal to migrant workers

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also made a special appeal to the workers of West Bengal who came on holidays during the elections. She said, “I would like to request all the migrant workers who have come here to celebrate Eid, please do not return without voting because if you do not vote in the coming days, they will snatch your Aadhaar card. I will not allow CAA to be implemented in Bengal. It was implemented in Assam and so many people died. Now they are also talking about UCC, do you know what will happen from this? If they bring in UCC, you will lose your identity.”

Mamata Banerjee again clarified that she is part of the India alliance but is contesting the elections alone in Bengal. The party has fielded candidates on all 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state, while CPI(M) and Congress have jointly fielded candidates in the state. While releasing the election manifesto a day earlier, Left Front President Biman Bose had accused Mamata Banerjee of being the biggest ally of BJP.
