After the announcement of alliance with SP and getting the Allahabad parliamentary seat, the election preparations have started intensifying in the Congress. Many names have also started coming forward for tickets from the alliance. There are many such faces among them who had refused to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha and Mayor elections.
The tussle regarding alliance continued between SP and Congress till the last moment. Apart from this, in case of alliance, Congress was staking claim for a seat in Prayagraj. Keeping this in mind, names of strong contenders for Allahabad and Phulpur seats were also sent by the local unit of the party.
Now after the announcement of the alliance and the situation regarding the seat becoming clear to a great extent, the siege has started from the ticket claimants. Under this, along with presenting the caste equation in their favor, many other types of claims are also being made. Till now only leaders of Agani caste have won the Allahabad parliamentary seat.
In such a situation, many names are being discussed from the Congress side. In this, the names of Anil Shastri, son of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was MP from Allahabad seat, and his son Adarsh Shastri are also included. Although Anil Shastri had refused to contest elections in the past, Anil and Adarsh Shastri had recently participated in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi in Prayagraj. In such a situation, this discussion is gaining more strength.
