Longest Day 2024 UAE will experience earliest summer solstice on June 20th

Longest Day 2024: Due to summer solstice, the longest day of the year will be on 21 June. During summer solstice, the Sun is at its highest position in the northern hemisphere of the Earth. Due to this, there is more light and the day seems longer. This time, June 20 will be the longest day in the United Arab Emirates since 1796. The daytime will be 13 hours and 48 minutes. According to astronomy and space science, this event will happen in the United Arab Emirates due to summer solstice.

Although the summer solstice occurs every year on June 21, this year the summer solstice will occur on June 20 at 20:51 UTC in most countries of the world, which is the earliest solstice since 1796. Because of this, the longest day of the year for the UAE will still be on June 21.

The heat will blow your mind

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, said that due to this, the temperature will be between 41 degrees Celsius to 43 degrees Celsius during the day and 26 degrees Celsius to 29 degrees Celsius at night. Temperatures may exceed 50 degrees Celsius in some areas. Hot and dry winds will continue to blow in the northern and northwestern regions of the country. This will cause dust and sand to fly across the country, creating hot air waves that will raise the temperature by at least 4 degrees. Chairman Ibrahim Al Jarwan said that during this event the sun will be directly overhead in the Tropic of Cancer, which will create minimal shadows in the southern UAE at noon and less shadows throughout the Arabian Peninsula. These conditions will persist in the first half of the summer, while thunderstorms are expected in the latter half, i.e. from August 11 to September 23.

What is summer solstice?
During the summer solstice, the sun is at its highest position in the northern hemisphere of the earth. It occurs on June 20 or June 21. On this day, the northern hemisphere has the longest day and the shortest night. The sun rays fall on the earth at the most oblique angle. Because of this, the northern hemisphere receives maximum sunlight. Days are long and nights are short. In some northern regions, the sun does not set for 24 hours, which is also called the midnight sun. The temperature rises and the summer season is at its peak. Plants grow fast and flowers bloom. Birds are more active and animals gather more food. It is also celebrated as a festival.
