Aparna Yadav
Expansion
Apart from the wives of former and present Deputy CMs from BJP, two former CM’s daughters-in-law can also fight for the mayor’s seat. After being a woman seat, their names are being discussed fast. Others also have claims, but they are being considered as the main contenders. In such a situation, the election regarding the mayor seat will be interesting.
In the last four elections, the mayor’s seat has been held by the BJP continuously. Earlier this seat was with the Congress. Many big names are doing the rounds to become the second woman mayor of the city. Among these, the name of Jai Laxmi Sharma, wife of former Deputy Chief Minister and former Mayor Dr. Dinesh Sharma, is prominent. The name of Namrata Pathak, wife of the current Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, is also in discussion. His name cropped up in the last election as well.

On the other hand, the names of Alka Das, daughter-in-law of former Chief Minister late Babu Banarasi Das and Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of former CM late Mulayam Singh Yadav, are also being considered among the main contenders. Aparna is currently in BJP. The name of her daughter-in-law Reshu Bhatia is also discussed along with the outgoing mayor Sanyukta Bhatia. Apart from this, Bindu Bora, wife of MLA Neeraj Bora and Madhuri Halvasia, wife of BJP leader Sudhir Halvasia, are also in the news.
Their claim is also strong
Meera Vardhan had contested last election from SP. This time also his claim is being considered strong. It is discussed that no better candidate has come forward than him in the party. Prema Awasthi had contested from Congress last time. This time the discussion of his name is less. Party’s state spokesperson Priyanka Gupta is discussed more. Strong efforts are being made on their behalf regarding the claim. Last year, when the seat was proposed unreserved, the name of businessman Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal was number one in the party. Priyanka’s claim is being considered strong after the seat is a woman. One reason for this is also that Priyanka Gupta is considered Priyanka Gandhi’s special. On the other hand, last time Bulbul Godial was in the election from BSP, but this time the name of any claimant is not discussed yet.
