Five candidates of BJP and one of SP were elected unopposed for the six vacant posts of Lucknow Municipal Corporation Executive. Congress did not field its candidate. For the election, BJP had decided the name of five candidates and SP had decided the name of one candidate.
Six members of the 12-member executive committee of the Municipal Corporation were retired through lottery on June 14. Elections were held for those vacant posts. The six members who retired included five from BJP and one from SP. Both the parties have decided the candidates accordingly, so that there is no need for cross voting and elections.

Congress has only three councillors in the House. In such a situation, it was not in a position to contest the elections. Last year, Mukesh Singh Chauhan had claimed to contest the elections but did not file his nomination at the last moment. This time, no one has claimed. Amit Chaudhary was the only councillor from BSP, who joined the BJP three months ago.
