But today we are going to tell you about a case, knowing about which you will be shocked. Actually, a person from Malaysia broke his own eye in the greed of getting Rs 1 crore 91 lakh from insurance. This disabled father of three children did not know that he himself would get into some trouble in this matter. But the insurance company has filed a case of fraud against the person.
According to the recorded report, 52 year old disabled Tan Kok Guan is unemployed. In such a situation, Guan deliberately tore out his own left eye to obtain insurance worth RM1 million (about Rs 1 crore 91 lakh). The incident is said to have occurred on June 8, 2023, between 9 am and 6 pm at Kampung Paya in Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia. After this, Tan lodged a claim with the insurance company so that he could recover the money. But the company has instead charged Tan under section 420 of the Penal Code, which deals with fraud. Apart from this, other sections have also been imposed. The case was heard in the Magistrates Court of Butterworth, Penang on 30 December 2024, where Tan denied the charges.
While talking about granting bail to Tan in the court, his lawyer said that Tan is unemployed and is suffering from many chronic health problems including heart disease and stroke. Now he also no longer has his left eye, due to which his challenges have increased further. Tan’s lawyer said that all the family expenses are currently being borne by his wife, as Tan is not able to work due to his health and disability. The lawyer requested that Tan be released on the minimum bail amount due to his personal circumstances. The lawyer emphasized that his client had also fully cooperated in the investigation. However, the court did not grant him bail and now the next hearing of this case will be in February 2025. On the other hand, the allegations against Tan are also being investigated.
