Yes, Magistrate is not a post but it is the name of a sweet, which is made in Sarenja village, about 20 kilometers from Buxar. This sweet is made from milk and it takes about four to five hours to make it.

This village is situated on the Buxar-Kochas main road. Hut-like shops will be seen on both sides of the road. Just by looking at the hut-like shop, you will understand that this is the shop where delicious Magistrate sweets are available. Mango wood is always burning in the earthen stove in the hut-like shop. Milk is boiled on this for several hours.

Gorakh has been making delicious magistrate sweets for 50 years.
Confectioner Gorakh Gupta, who makes this sweet, says that 20 liters of milk is boiled until it reduces to 4 liters and then cooked on low flame. Cardamom and light sugar are added to it. After that prepared magistrate sweets are ready. This sweet is being made here for almost 50 years. This sweet is such that even diabetic patients can eat it, because only minimal sugar is added to it. The sweetness in this sweet is from milk only. Condensed milk is heated so much that its taste completely changes automatically and only the sweetness of milk remains in it. Therefore there is no need to add more sugar in it.

Magistrate sweets are sold for Rs 300 to Rs 350 per kg.
Gorakh tells that magistrate sweets are sold at Rs 300 to Rs 350 per kg. Passengers visiting Mohania, Banaras, Buxar, Arrah, Sasaram buy it. Besides, the people around the village also always come to eat sweets. Only 15 to 25 kg is sold daily. Whoever stays here eats and also packs 4-5 kilos to take away. The demand for this sweet increases significantly during weddings. Customer Vipin Tiwari who came to the shop told that the taste of this sweet is so delicious that don’t even ask. Just come and eat. Maybe your stomach will be filled but your mind will not be filled.

People come to this village from far and wide. Another customer said that it is very tasty and it is a sweet made from pure khoya. Many such customers were standing in line to get the sweets and everyone praised its taste wholeheartedly. Also got 2-3 kg packed to take to your home.
