Films demanded for ban: Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan’s first film ‘Maharaj’ was going to be released on Netflix on June 14, 2024. But Vishwa Hindu Samiti accused the film of hurting religious sentiments and demanded a ban on it. After which the Gujarat High Court banned the release of the film till June 18.
However, this is not the first time that a film has been accused of hurting religious sentiments. Earlier too, many films have been accused of such things and demands have been made to ban them. Annu Kapoor’s film ‘Humare Barah’ is also in this list.
‘Our Twelve’
‘Humare Barah’ was scheduled to release on June 14 but today the Supreme Court has banned the release of the film, considering that the film is derogatory to the Islamic faith and married Muslim women.
‘Lone man’
Stars like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan appeared in the 2023 film ‘Adipurush’. There was a lot of controversy in the film about the language style of the characters and making them wear leather. People had demanded a ban on the film, accusing it of insulting Hindu gods and goddesses.
‘OMG 2’
Akshay Kumar’s film ‘OMG 2’ was released in theatres on 11 August last year. There was a lot of protest against the way the character of Lord Shiva’s messenger was shown in the film. It was said that the deity has been insulted in the film.
‘The Kerala Story’
‘The Kerala Story’ was released last year and it proved to be a turning point in actress Ada Sharma’s life. But the film was surrounded by controversies even before its release. In the film, many girls were shown being forced to convert to Islam. In such a situation, the film was accused of hurting Islamic sentiments.
‘Pathan’
Shahrukh Khan There was also a demand for a ban on the film ‘Pathan’ released in 2023. Deepika Padukone wore a saffron bikini in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ of the film, which caused a lot of uproar.
‘PK’
There was a lot of controversy over Aamir Khan’s film ‘PK’. The film was said to be against Hindu gods and gurus and there were many protests against it.
