Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge fiercely attacked BJP and RSS on Sunday (November 17) in Sangli, Maharashtra. He compared the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to ‘poison’ and described them as ‘the most politically dangerous’ in India.
Kharge said, “If there is anything politically most dangerous in India, it is the BJP and the RSS. They are like poison. If a snake bites, the person dies. Such poisonous snakes should be killed.
‘Modi’s power hunger has not been satiated yet’
Taking a dig at the BJP, the Congress President said that the number of leaders campaigning in Maharashtra elections is more than the number of candidates contesting them. He said, “Prime Minister, Home Minister (Amit Shah) and other leaders have come here. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh today Yogi Adityanath were also here. Don’t know what happened to them. 10 children died in a fire in a hospital in Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. Despite this, his public meetings in Maharashtra did not stop.
Kharge targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for holding public meetings for state level elections. The Congress President said that this is an assembly election, not to elect the Prime Minister of the country. Modi’s ‘hunger for power’ has not been satiated yet.
‘Modi should take care of his home first’
He accused Modi of not visiting Manipur, which is battling ethnic conflict, and instead traveling abroad. Kharge said, “Modi was here till yesterday. Today he is abroad. Manipur is burning, people are dying, tribal women are being insulted and women are being raped, but Modi never visited Manipur. He is on a foreign tour.
He said, “Today he is also visiting a country. I want to tell them to take care of their home first. First make the country strong. You can go anywhere later.”
Kharge’s sarcasm on Vishal Patil
Kharge also questioned the outcome of the Prime Minister’s meetings with Donald Trump and the Presidents of Russia and China from India’s perspective. He said that his age will not stop him from supporting the ideology of Congress and meeting people. Taking a dig at Vishal Patil, he said, “There are leaders who were given positions by the party and they took advantage of them.” We are not criticizing anyone, but if the Congress party is giving you everything then you should not betray it.
The Congress President said that the party does not want any rift in the family of former Chief Minister late Vasantdada Patil. He said, “I was told that the Lok Sabha MP from Sangli (Vishal Patil) won with the support of the Congress party and the Congress party has re-inducted him with honours.”
