When the trailer of ‘Maidan’ was released, fans thought that Ajay Devgan would continue his dominance at the box office, as the actor had started with successful films like ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ and ‘Drishyam 2’.
Ajay Devgan completely adapted himself to the character of Syed Abdul Rahim in the film ‘Maidan’ and the film was liked by a large number of people. But despite this the film could not do anything special at the box office.
‘Maidan’ collected around Rs 40 crore at the box office in 17 days and there was no hope of the film going beyond this and touching the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office. However, it is believed that there may be some reason behind the poor performance of the film at the box office.
First reason:- Long wait and huge budget… ‘Maidan’ was announced many years ago. While the film took a lot of time to be made, the sets had to be taken care of during Covid-19 and the budget of the film was also increased.
Second reason:- After the pandemic, the set got damaged due to the cyclone in Mumbai, due to which a few crores of rupees more were spent in the budget. Boney Kapoor was helpless and had to release this film.
Third reason:- ‘Maidan’ is moving towards a loss of more than 200 crores at the box office. After being stuck for years, the budget of this film has become around 250 crores.
Let us tell you that Ajay’s ‘Maidaan’ was made at a cost of Rs 100 crore. Boney Kapoor has produced it. In the last few years, it has rarely been seen that an Ajay Devgan film has flopped at the box office. But the condition of Ajay’s film ‘Maidan’ is bad at the box office.
