Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu Statement on India After many projects on 28 islands of maldives


Maldives President On PM Modi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar inaugurated Maldives’ biggest water and sanitation project on Saturday, 10 August. India had provided aid of $110 million to Maldives under this project. On this occasion, Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu could not stop praising India. During his three-day visit, S Jaishankar inaugurated this project from the President’s office itself.

President Mohammad Muizzu praised India in a social media post and wrote that India has always supported Maldives. He wrote, “It is a pleasure to meet Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and join him in the official handover of water and sewer project in 28 islands of Maldives.”

Muizzu acknowledged the generosity of India

Sharing photos with External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, President Muizzu wrote, “I thank the Government of India, especially the Prime Minister, for always supporting Maldives. Narendra Modi I express my gratitude to you. Our enduring partnership continues to grow stronger. It brings our two countries closer together through cooperation in security, development and cultural ties. Together we are building a brighter, more prosperous future for the region.”

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday, August 11 said that Maldives is a key partner of India in the Indian Ocean region and both countries aspire to transform their cooperation into a modern partnership. Jaishankar said this at the handover ceremony of the Addu Reclamation and Coast Protection Project and the inauguration of the 4-lane Detour Link Road Project built with the help of the Government of India under the loan assistance of Exim Bank.

Jaishankar said, “Maldives is an important partner for us in the Indian Ocean region. It is at the centre of our policy of ‘Neighbourhood First’. And so it is very natural that cooperation between our two countries has moved beyond the traditional role and today it truly aspires to become a modern partnership.”
