The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. Congress got victory in 2017
The Congress had won the Manavadar seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress had made Jawahar Bhai Chavda its candidate from this seat. Chavda defeated BJP’s Nitin Kumar by 29,000 votes. A total of nine candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining seven candidates were forfeited.
Congress got fourth consecutive victory
Congress has won this seat for the fourth consecutive time. The BJP had last won here in 2002. Ratibhai Gordhanbhai Sureja had won three consecutive elections from 1995 to 2002 for the party.
Jawahar Chavda won four times from Manavadar lost this time
Jawaharbhai Chavda has won the Manavadar seat in 1990, 2007, 2012 and 2017 on a Congress ticket. In this election, he was in the fray on a BJP ticket. This time he wanted to register fifth victory on BJP ticket. He was defeated by Congress candidate Arvind Bhai. Congress has won 10 times from Manavadar seat in the total 14 elections held so far. Thrice the BJP was successful in registering victory here. At the same time, once the Kisan Mazdoor Lok Paksha (1975) got victory from here.
