Manipur fresh violence two person killed in firing both from kuki community 24 hours shut down announced


Manipur Violence News: Violence continues in Manipur even before the Lok Sabha elections. On Saturday (April 13), two people have died in another firing. There was firing between two armed groups in the adjoining Moirangpurel area between East Imphal and Kangpokpi district.

Both the people who died belong to the Kuki community. This is the second incident of firing in two days. Security forces have been deployed in the entire area. Bullets were fired after the encounter in Kuki and Maitai in Moirangpurel area. Security forces have started the search operation.

Call for bandh in Kangpokpi district

The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has called for a complete 24-hour shutdown in Kangpokpi district from midnight of April 13 to midnight of April 14 in protest against the killing of two people of Kuki community in this firing incident.

CoTU has said that in Shantipur too, a person from the Kuki community was murdered by the people of Meitai community on April 12. Earlier on April 12, unknown assailants had opened indiscriminate firing before sunrise in Thoubal district in which one person was reported injured.
