Manipur Violence: Uday Reddy, a professor of computer science at the University of Birmingham in Britain and of Indian origin, has been accused of inciting ethnic violence. The professor has been accused of posting online messages on social media platforms and organising discussion sessions to incite people. A complaint has been lodged in Imphal, the capital of Manipur, regarding this. It has also been claimed in this complaint that the accused may also have links with Khalistani elements in Canada.
The FIR states that through his online activities, Uday Reddy, a professor of computer science at the University of Birmingham, was trying to incite tension between communities on religious grounds.
Insulted the religious beliefs of Meitei
The FIR states that Professor Uday Reddy has knowingly insulted the religious beliefs of the Meitei community. Apart from this, he has tried to increase enmity between the Meitei community and other communities on the basis of Aadhaar. A case has been registered in this regard at a police station in Imphal East district.
Serious allegations leveled
The complainant told the police that Professor Uday Reddy, while discussing on social media, is giving suggestions to the people of Manipur on how to create trouble against law enforcement personnel in the state. The FIR also states that the accused may have links with Khalistanis and narco-terrorist groups in Canada. In such a situation, the call records of the accused should be investigated. Apart from this, a case should also be registered under UAPA.
The complainant has requested the Indian authorities to contact Reddy’s workplace and inform them about the criminal acts committed by him against India. The complainant has also raised the demand for issuing a Lookout Circular (LOC) against Reddy.
