Manish Sisodia bail from supreme court laid down conditions granting bail Passport deposit and ban on foreign travel

The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. Sisodia has got relief in both the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi liquor policy scam. But the Supreme Court has granted bail to Manish Sisodia on several conditions. This includes not going abroad. Today we will tell you from whom permission has to be taken to go abroad after getting bail from the court.

Manish Sisodia

Let us tell you that Manish Sisodia has been lodged in Tihar Jail for 17 months. The CBI arrested Sisodia on 26 February 2023 in a corruption case. At the same time, the ED arrested him in a money laundering case on March 9, 2023. He resigned from the post of minister on 28 February 2023. But now the Supreme Court, while giving its verdict, said that more than 400 witnesses and thousands of documents have been presented in the case so far. At the same time, there is no possibility of the case ending in the coming days. In such a situation, keeping Sisodia in custody would be a violation of his fundamental right to freedom. It is believed that Sisodia can come out of jail by this evening.

On what conditions bail

While granting bail to Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court said that he is a respected person of the society. Therefore, there is no possibility of him running away. But then he will have to follow some conditions. The first condition is that Sisodia will have to submit his passport for bail. He will also have to appear before the police every Monday and Thursday.

Who will give permission to go abroad

There are many rules for an accused to go abroad. But according to an expert, in Manish Sisodia’s case, if he feels the need to go abroad due to some urgent or health-related reasons, he can get permission only from the court. Because his passport is deposited and only after the court’s order will he get his passport back and all the visa related proceedings can begin. However, if there is a suspicion of any irregularity in his application, then the police, CBI and other agencies can stop his travel by presenting evidence in the court.
When do Union Ministers travel abroad?

Let us tell you that Union Ministers and Chief Ministers have to take approval from different departments before going on a foreign tour. There is a difference in the process of getting clearance for central and state ministers. For example, if the Chief Minister of a state has to travel abroad for personal or work purposes, then he needs to take clearance under the Political and Foreign Contribution Regulating Act. If an MP is going on a personal trip during the Parliament session, then the Prime Minister’s approval is also required. A circular was issued by the Cabinet Secretariat in 2015 regarding foreign trips of Chief Ministers, Union Ministers and other government officials.
