Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was undergoing treatment at ‘All India Medical Sciences’ (AIIMS) in New Delhi, has passed away. Manmohan Singh was suffering from many diseases. He had bypass surgery in the year 2009. According to the report, several blockages were detected in the Prime Minister’s heart. Manmohan Singh has a history of heart related diseases. He also had bypass surgery in 1990 and angioplasty for stent implantation in 2003.

Bypass surgery is the process of improving blood circulation in the coronary arteries of the heart. It is also known as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or heart bypass surgery. In this surgery, a piece of healthy blood vessel is taken from another part of the patient’s body and attached above and below the blocked artery. This allows blood and oxygen to reach the heart.
