A case of murder of a married woman due to non-fulfillment of dowry demand has come to light in village Chounk of Hathras Junction area of ​​Kotwali. People from the maternal side have accused the in-laws of murdering the married woman and hanging her body from the fan. The in-laws are absconding since the incident. Virendra, a resident of village Bhupalgarhi of Akrabad police station area of ​​Aligarh district, had married his daughter Varsha six years ago with Deepak son of Ramjilal, a resident of village Chounk of Kotwali Hathras Junction area. People from the maternal side allege that the in-laws were not happy with the dowry donated in the marriage. Every day he used to mentally harass the married woman by demanding additional dowry.

It is alleged that on the morning of April 21, the in-laws murdered 25-year-old Varsha’s wife Deepak and hanged the body on the fan. After the incident all the in-laws fled away. The villagers immediately informed the family members of the married woman about this. On information, people from the maternal side also reached the village and informed the Kotwali Hathras Junction police.

On receiving the information, the police also reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. In connection with the incident, the mother of the deceased married woman, Mithlesh, wife of Virendra, resident of Bhupalgarhi police station, Akrabad district, Aligarh, has filed a case against six in-laws including the husband in the police station Hathras Junction, alleging that the daughter was murdered due to non-fulfillment of her dowry demand.
