Masala Chai Is World’s Second Non Alcoholic Drink: Masala tea has become the second best non-alcoholic drink in the world. Yes, you read that right. Well, if it was about Indians then perhaps it would have been at number 1. Because for us tea is an emotion. Tea is a major drink in Indian homes. No matter the season or time of the day, Indians love to enjoy a hot cup of tea first thing in the morning. Tea helps them to keep working throughout the day. Now, TasteAtlas, a dictionary of traditional dishes and restaurants from around the world, has ranked the drink at number two on its list of the world’s best non-alcohol drinks.

TasteAtlas reveals the world’s favorite alcohol-free beverages. Masala tea was placed second in the list. Mexico’s Aguas Frescas were placed at number one. It is a drink “made by mixing fruits, cucumbers, flowers, seeds and grains with sugar and water.” Revealing the news in an Instagram post, Food Guide wrote, “Chai Masala is an aromatic beverage originating from India. It is made from a combination of sweet black tea and milk mixed with spices. It usually includes cardamom, ground ginger, cloves, cinnamon and black pepper.

Netizens reacted after reading the news. While some choose to call it chai masala TasteAtlas corrected, while others expressed their love for the drink. One user wrote, “This is masala chai, not masala chai.” Chai masala literally means the spice you put in tea. “Masala chai means spicy tea.” Another wrote, “‘It’s called masala chai.’ “Chai masala is the actual mixture that we make to prepare tea.” One user commented, “Masala tea is not a beverage, it is a feeling.”

Apart from this, India’s Mango Lassi stood at the third position. In another list, TasteAtlas ranked India’s Basmati as the world’s best rice. He explains the reason behind calling Basmati the best, “Once cooked, the grains of Basmati remain separate and do not stick to each other, allowing curries and similar stews and sauces to coat every grain .
