Due to unknown reasons, a massive fire broke out in a tire and fertilizer-seed warehouse located on Mathura Road Odhpura in Hathras Kotwali Sadar area of the city late on the night of 22nd May. Seeing the flames, there was chaos there. Local people immediately informed the police, fire department and warehouse owner. Many firefighters of the fire department extinguished the fire with great effort. The loss due to the fire is estimated to be Rs 50 to 60 lakh.
Yash Lavania, son of Shankarlal, resident of Nagla Banarasi Prahlad village of Hathras Gate Kotwali area, has a firm named Shankar Tyre in a market located on Mathura Road Odhpura. Hariom Singh, son of Charan Singh, resident of Manipur village of Iglas Kotwali area of Aligarh district, has a fertilizer and seed store in the same market. Yash and Hariom Singh have built their own warehouses behind the shop. The warehouse had stock of tires and fertilizers and seeds worth lakhs of rupees.
Late night on 22nd May, a huge fire broke out in the warehouse due to unknown reasons. The fire took a horrific form in no time. Seeing the flames coming out of the warehouse, the people living nearby came out of their houses and there was chaos. A large number of people gathered at the spot. The good thing was that the flames did not reach the nearby houses, otherwise a big incident could have happened.
Local people immediately informed Kotwali Sadar Police, Fire Department and warehouse owners. The warehouse owner and several fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and started efforts to extinguish the fire. After about an hour of hard work, the fire fighters were successful in extinguishing the fire. On getting information on the morning of 23 May, acquaintances of both the warehouse owners and people nearby reached the spot and gathered information about the incident.
On receiving information about the fire, the team was sent to the spot. Soon the fire was extinguished with the help of fire brigade.-RK Vajpayee, Chief Fire Officer.
