According to government sources, from Wednesday (April 10, 2024), India has started the process of deployment of military as well as defense diplomats in many African countries. Under this, 15-16 new attachés have been taken from Army, Navy and Air Force. Attaché refers to a diplomatic official attached to an embassy or legation who is particularly skilled in technical and other capacities. Under the Ministry of External Affairs’ plan to establish 26 new missions around the world, 18 are being established in African countries.
Deployment is going to happen in these countries
According to the information, these military and defense diplomats will now be deployed in countries like Poland, Armenia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast and Philippines. India is also reducing the number of military officers deployed on major missions in Russia, Britain and France for deployment in these countries. If sources are to be believed, in the next phase 10 new defense wings will be created afresh in different countries. Special attention will be given to the countries to which arms can be exported from India.

India is also working on this to challenge China’s policy along with its diplomatic relations. In fact, China has made major strategic intrusions into African countries. Apart from this, in view of China’s aggressive behavior in the Indo-Pacific region including the South China Sea, India is also continuously increasing military relations with ASEAN countries. Due to this, a contract worth $375 million was signed with the Philippines in January 2022 for three anti-ship coastal batteries of BrahMos missiles. Experts say that in such a situation, to compete with China and defeat its every move, India is now working on increasing its presence in African countries.
Along with strengthening relations, emphasis is also on export of arms.
Apart from the ongoing war exercises, military exchanges and training programs with African countries, India is now looking to export indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft, Pinaka multi-launch rocket system, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and Akash air defense missile systems to African countries. doing. India is also trying to export single-engine Tejas fighter aircraft to countries like Philippines, Nigeria, Argentina and Egypt.
