MEA S Jaishankar In US Says PM Narendra Modi special envoy is treated well


S Jaishankar In US: Foreign Minister S. arrived to attend the swearing-in ceremony of US President Donald Trump. Jaishankar has expressed hope that relations between India and America will become stronger under Trump’s administration. Along with this, regarding the honor received at the swearing-in ceremony, he said that dealing with the special envoy of PM Modi is also good.

‘Relations will be strengthened on the foundation built earlier’

He further said, “Secondly, it was also clear in the meetings that they would like to build on the foundation of relations, a foundation that the earlier Trump administration had also contributed a lot to building. At that time, President Trump and Prime Minister Modi took many initiatives and we have seen them maturing in many ways. And the third impression was that there was a very strong feeling with respect to the Quad that the current administration would also respond to our desire to take the Quad forward, to intensify its activities.”

Apart from attending the inauguration ceremony, Jaishankar held an important bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. This meeting was Rubio’s first bilateral meeting as Foreign Minister, in which emphasis was laid on further strengthening the strategic and economic cooperation between the two countries. They discussed a range of issues including regional concerns and deepening the US-India partnership.
